they really do have teatime here.

Today's post is probably going to be a little more informative rather than amusing just because not as much happened today.

I got up and went to work. However, it was taking Sue longer than expected to get into work. So, I went downstairs to the lobby and asked the desk man to come unlock my door. It turns out, he was quite the character. He told me he liked my necklace, which got us talking about jewelry. He is actually a jewelry designer on the side and may even be getting a contract with Barney's! We are going to be good friends, I just know it!

After THAT adventure, I got to meet Caroline. She also works in my office but has been on holiday in Switzerland. She's super nice and I know I will like working with her for sure! Caroline and Sue are very funny and introduced me to the Daily Mail which is kind of like popsugar.com or US weekly. (www.dailymail.co.uk)

I'm kind of going to skip most of my post about the office today because although I do still love it and it was a blast, it was comprised of office-y tasks that probably would not be of interest to you!

However, I will tell you a little bit about a few differences I have found between the US and UK.

1. Money.
First of all, the exchange is ridiculous. It is much more expensive than the US. $100 is roughly around 62 British pounds. So, the dollar doesn't go very far.
2. Cab Drivers
If you go to New York, the cab drivers (a lot of the time) have absolutely no idea where they are going. Here, cab drivers are super friendly and also know exactly where they are going in addition to having a GPS in their adorable and quaint black cabs. Each driver has to pass a test called "the knowledge" that is an evaluation of their knowledge of London streets and their ability to drive.
3. Tea Time
It's for real. I'm not even kidding. People drink tea in the afternoons. They leave the office and bring their tea back, make their own tea, or go out for tea. I really wish I liked tea because that would be awesome.

Recently, the weather has been quite snowy and lovely in London. However, London rarely gets snow and people don't really know what to do with themselves. I bought boots, but I'm going to pull an Elizabeth Akin and give you a HOW TO.

How to not slip in the snow/ice:
Coming from someone who slips all the time, here are a few pointers:
1. If it looks like a puddle or just water but it's snowing, chances are, it's ice.
2. Carefully feel the surface with your toe. If it is concrete and your foot slides as opposed to grips the ground; it's ice.
3. Look for a way to get around the ice.
4. If there is no way, carefully step on the icy surface. Try not to go too fast. Try and keep your weight balanced across the whole of the bottom of your foot; if it is on your heel or toe you may slip faster.
5. Face it; you're probably going to slip, but it's ok. Face plants aren't that bad.

Anyways, I have a fabulous day planned for tomorrow! Sorry for the lack of pictures, but if you want a glimpse into my life in London, go have a look on Facebook.

Cheerio!
xoxo,
molly saint

  2. haha thanks for the shout out. I have actually almost busted my butt multiple times on this trip because yesterday it was raining all day and all of the sidewalks here are marble. Automatic WATCH OUT...and then in our house the floors are VERY slippery. no joke. I have to wear shoes because if I dont I will slip and fall. In Claire and Jessica's house(apartment) right below ours, Claire busted her butt on te hard wood but no one saw. I really wish they had.
    Hope you're having fun!
