this weekend has flown by!

Today was a blast!

I woke up (late, as per usual) and raced out the door and down the road to the money exchange. I wanted to stop at Starbucks as well, but I was already running late! Then, I grabbed a cab to the British Museum to meet up with the Harpeth Hall girls. It was really fun; we split up and walked around for a good three hours. We saw so many different rooms; from African artifacts to Egyptian mummies and Middle Eastern vases and European jewels. It was lovely; there was so much to see that it definitely would take more than the few hours we spent there!

After eating at the cafe in the museum, we took the Tube to Covent Garden. Covent Garden is a market and area of restaurants and shopping. There are also street performers. Here's a couple pictures:

After this, Sam and Nick, two of my British friends from Georgetown this summer, came and picked me up. We started walking in the direction of one of the bridges to cross over to the South Bank. The South Bank is basically just the waterfront of London looking towards Parliament and on the same side as the London Eye ferris wheel. There was a little bit of snow and we ended up going to a cute cafe on the riverside and having a coffee while we plotted "the plan" for the rest of the day. Originally, I wanted to go to Camden Markets. However, Sam and Nick agreed that they were incredibly sketch and a hit or miss. So, we brainstormed other ideas. We finally just decided to continue walking along the South Bank until we thought of something. We walked and found a skate park where we stood for a few minutes; and then continued along the river. Here are some shots of the South Bank:

Here is a shot of my sarcastic tour guides; Nick and Sam:

Anyways, we ended up crossing a bridge at some point and heading back over to the other side of London. We decided to find Hyde Park. We walked a long time and eventually hopped on a big traditional red bus. After riding for a few minutes, we hopped off. Since it was after 5, we decided the park would probably be closed since it was a Sunday. So, we ended up going and eating a cupcake and coffee in the 5th floor cafe in Harvey Nichols--a swank department store in a really nice neighborhood. Nick said that if Gossip Girl was set in London this is where they would have coffee. That made me excited!

After they dropped me back at my hotel, I had dinner with my adorable father.

Now, I am off to get some sleep before work tomorrow!

xoxo,
molly saint

  2. That's how it is in the real world...the work days go by so slowly, and the weekends just fly! All of a sudden, it's Monday morning again. But you enjoy every single second of every single thing you are doing. So glad you saw the HH girls and the Georgetown boys. Snow is melting here. Yipee. I hear SR in your room...must go investigate! Love you tons. mom

  3. Molly, I am loving your blog and wishing that I was in London. I adored our time in the British Museum. I could stay in there for hours. Sounds like you are having the grandest time ever. Katie and Elizabeth are both wanting to go back since reading your blog. We're not jealous, but we are envious. Have as much fun as you possibly can!
